PAPAROXI WEIGHT LOSS AND FITNESS CHALLENGE

Spring is officially here! And while it is not bathing suit weather yet it really is just around the corner so we at PAPAROXI decided to have a little challenge. Give yourself 60 days to get into the shape of your life! We know for everyone that means very different things. You may have significant weight to lose, or maybe just a few pound, you may want to get in shape for a 5k, or just get bathing suit ready whatever it is over the next 9 weeks we will have something for you. So we wanted to break down the challenge into 4 different categories:

Weight Loss: Trying to lose X amount of pound over the next 60 days

Inches/Healthy BMI/Healthy Body Fat: Striving to loose inches from your waist, or % Body fat or BMI

Food Challenge: Trying to eat healthier maybe cutting out meat or not eating after a certain time, many people have an optimal eating lifestyle they would like to attain

Fitness Challenge: Your town probably has a 5k or 10k you have always thought about competing in, training for a short triathlon, finishing the p90x or Insanity DVD’s, or even just getting abs to look ripped this summer.

So now that we have the criteria laid out what are some of the tools that you can utilize to get you to your goal… First, you need to do a quick diagnostic of where you are right now.

  •  Weight yourself! I know this can be very scary
  • Measure yourself and use this Calculator  to help calculate your BMI and Body Fat
  • Start a daily log of what you are eating this is one of my favorite online log’s and its free!
  • Register for a race that is coming up in the next 60 days and set a goal for self Run a mile, do some push up or sit ups, if you have P90x or Insanity do the fit test do these things till you feel you are at your max and write down how well you performed.

THIS WEEKS MISSION

Set the goals that you want to attain by Memorial day, keep track of your food intake and Exercise. Use this calculator to determine how many calories you need to consume in order to lose weight. For those of you trying to get ripped, lean and cut start to covert your diet to 75% protein and cut back on your carb and sugar intake there are some great tips for this on this site also a great food list  for the first two weeks. We are extremely excited for everyone to get started! Each Wednesday we will up date you with the progress and have cool fitness and food recommendations for the week.

LASTLY: You can email us your story at paparoxi.com@gmail.com please in the subject line indicate one of the four criteria you would like to participate in, also include a before picture (if possible) and before statistics (desired weight to loose, inches, fitness level). We will keep in contact you throughout the challenge and email us any questions, comments or concerns.

 A ROXI'S STORY....

It was about the beginning of 2010 when I really looked in the mirror and decided that something had to change. I was always very interested in athletics and It has always been a goal of mine to one day compete in a triathlon. Well after a series of very unfortunate events leaving a job, another break up, and having to move home I decided that I needed to start changing something so I started with my fitness. I registered with Team in Training to train and compete with them to run an Olympic Triathlon ( 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, and 6 mile run). I was really nervous but excited it seemed really impossible because I had not trained for something since high school and that was 8 years prior. The training was rough many nights I couldn’t walk, I was always tired and many tears were shed. However June 2010 I completed my first race and I was very proud. I was also hooked, a month later I did another Olympic triathlon and dropped 20 minutes off my time!

HOWEVER…

One thing that was not dropping was the weight. I could not understand this at all. I mean I never quite saw myself as overweight and I always had a really positive self image (I was sexy dammit! lol) but the reality of the situation was I was 30lbs overweight and I had been trying to loose that same 30lbs since high school. I always chalked it off as me just being muscular but after competing in those triathlons as proud as I was, I was pissed that I lost nothing. Labor day 2010 came and I felt it was the perfect time to drastically, I mean DRASTICALLY change the way I was eating. I went on a 40 day raw food and juice feast, I knew this was the only way that I could jump start my new way of life and after seeing the vitality (and weight loss) my dad had after 40 days of the same I was sold. The goal was to wipe my pallet/colon/body free of all old habits and start fresh on my “Vegan-ish” lifestyle (I still eat fish but have almost no dairy). Well it worked, I lost those 30 pounds 34 to be exact! I have been maintained the weight loss ( while still indulging from time to time) for almost 5 months.

Everyone has a different story. For me my mountain was Food, as a former self proclaimed “Thick chick” lol most of time food is the main issue. I have gotten countless number of emails, tweets, and face book messages with people who are spinning their wheels because they work out like Hercules but have not dropped any pounds usually those people have a food mountain to overcome like I did. I really had to change my mindset food for me is 90% of the battle and fitness is 10%, now I would rather eat healthy all day long and not workout than vice versa.

I hope my story and pictures are inspirational to you. I hope you join the PAPAROXI weight loss challenge and finally change your body and lifestyle once and for all!

Khaleeqa!!! This is a great post. We went wine tasting in the summer and then when I saw you again in the fall, you were at least 15 lbs lighter! I am so proud that you are maintaining your weight loss. I gained 20 lbs since last summer and I am ready to get back into shape. The bike ride is coming up in July and I am no where near "in shape." So I am up for the challenge...don't know if I can be vegan-ish, but I definitely need to try to cleanse so I can have a better foundation for weight loss. Thanks for the tips. I'm up for the challenge! 60-days :)
