A Moment With My Mom

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mother’s out there! I wanted to take a moment and recognize my mom, Lisa. I could probably fill up a book talking about how creative, beautiful and amazing my mother is but today I just decided to share one aspect of her “awesomeness.” The moment pictured above really captures how much I love her and how much she loves me.

Those photos were taken last October right after I crossed the finish line of Ironman 70.3 triathlon. We were both in tears. It was a difficult and grueling race and I owed a majority of me finishing to my mother. After I had a difficult time on the bike course (almost crashing) I was feeling down. I was in hour 4 of the race and I just needed some moral support. My mom relentlessly pushed through the crowds, ran up almost a mile to find me and started screaming the most encouraging words to get me through. She had her big sign screaming in the cold rain. I had never been so happy to see her. She was right there for me when I needed her the most. Finally, as I was running across the finish line she runs up on stage with the announcer to make sure he gives me a shout out and he says my name correctly! This really characterizes all that she has been to me. She is always there to support me, give me up-lift and hold me down when I need her the most.

I pray that all of you are blessed to have a great mother, grandmother or matronly figure in your lives. Today I just wanted to celebrate mine.

Happy Mother’s Day.
