ROX(i)NSPIRATION: PAT CLEVELAND

Paparoxi is all about cherishing your uniqueness in a way that you celebrate who you are everyday. When you have come to a point where you know who you are and what your purpose is in life in our eye you have really hit that Rox(I) status. So today’s inspiration is Pat Cleveland.  Fashion designer, supermodel and icon. Affectionately known as the “Catwalk Queen” Pat did things her way, never formally taught about how to model Pat developed her own signature walk that lit up runways in New York, Paris and Milan. What makes her a Rox”Inspiration” is her fearlessness about being herself. Upon walking the streets of New York one day she was approached by a woman who was intrigued by her clothes and style she asked Pat who had designed the ensemble and in fact Pat had made her own outfit. The woman was from Vogue and the rest is history. Check out this interview with Pat. Enjoy!

STYLE: JACK ME UP

(Click collage for more)

Spring is in the air! I know you all can feel it, and with that we put away the furs, pea coats, and puffers and embrace the light trenches, bombers, ponchos, and blazers. This is usually not the norm for Paparoxi.com (well at least till I get commissioned for it lol) I wanted to showcase some great finds to enhance your spring jacket spread. Enjoy! These all came from asos.com

STYLE: AMERICAN GRAFFITI

A few weeks ago I attended Roxi Monica Welborn’s art showing which was amazing, you can follow the link ROX(I) to see more of her work. However, in the adjacent gallery space they were featuring veteran artist Bruce Porter.

What I loved most about his work is the obvious bold colors and aggressive nature of his pieces, secondly the paintings felt very familiar and nostalgic as if you had seen the images before, but when you get closer they are abstract and unique. It was like premeditated cartoon graffiti. I am no art expert but I loved it.

Checkout more from Bruce Porter…

STYLE: RETRO PIN UP MAKEUP

(CLICK FOR MORE PICS)

Roxi Ameera and I had some fun this week, here are some tips to help you get this pin up look:

Make sure your eyebrows are perfectly plucked, then to make them more dramatic fill them in with an eyebrow pencil.

Choose an even foundation that will give your skin a smooth and even look.

The perfect red is key. We are using red revolution by cover girl. To give the lips a more finished look line the lips using a red similar to your red lipstick.

Pail pinks and white shimmer shadow are best, cover your entire eye from your lashes to the brown bone. Use some soft browns or even a deep purple or blue to create an oval from your inner eye to the end of your lash line for a nice contour.

Lastly extend your eye liner out past the end of your eye and up to create a cat eye.

Try this pin up look for Valentines Day.
